And when new babies arrived in the new marriage, Boots and her brother Lee Douglas welcomed each of them as each sibling was born to the home and assisted in rearing them.
She loved telling stories about the first new siblings, a set of twins, and their adventures and misadventures in caring for them.
She and her husband, Robert were pen pals during World War II which lead them to marriage.
